چکیده

Type A aortic dissection is usually treated with standard surgery, requiring cardiopulmonary bypass and sometimes deep hypothermia. Besides the well-established procedure, mortality and complications are considerable. Using the knowledge and lessons learned from the endovascular treatment of descending aortic diseases, emerging reports describe new approaches to the condition, using endovascular stentgrafts. This report describes an endovascular treatment of a chronic type A aortic dissection without cardiopulmonary bypass and avoiding thoracotomy.

Surgical interventions after emergency endovascular stent-grafting for acute type B aortic dissections.

In this retrospective study we reviewed our results of secondary surgery for complications after emergency placement of aortic stents for acute type B dissection. From October 2000 to June 2006, endovascular stent-grafting (ESG) was performed in 13 patients as an emergency procedure for acute type B dissection. Self-expanding nitinol stents (mean diameter 39.8+/-4.7 mm) were placed into the des...

Endovascular stent grafting of a complicated type B aortic dissection with approach through the innominate artery using a side-branch graft.

Endovascular stent grafting has emerged as an effective method for the treatment of complicated acute type B aortic dissections. In cases where access to the aorta cannot be established through the ileofemoral trunks, the axillary arteries are used as an alternative route. Often, however, these arteries are too small to accommodate the device sheath. We report the case of an 82-year-old female ...

Retrograde aortic dissection after a stent graft repair of a type B dissection: how to improve the endovascular technique.

To date, endovascular repair of thoracic dissections is a reality, associated with acceptable morbidity and mortality. We present the case of a 72-year-old woman presenting a retrograde aortic dissection at the postoperative day 12, after an endovascular repair for a 60-mm thoracic dissecting aneurysm. Two years earlier, she had presented an uncomplicated thoracoabdominal type B aortic dissecti...

Successful remodeling and endovascular repair of a ruptured type B chronic aortic dissection 12 years after primary surgery.

A 70-year-old woman with a medical history of descending aorta replacement for chronic type B aortic dissection 12 years prior was admitted to our hospital with sudden back pain and hemoptysis. The patient was diagnosed with ruptured residual dissected thoracic aortic aneurysm and underwent emergent endovascular treatment. Two TAG thoracic endoprosthesis of different sizes were used to accommod...
